UPCOMING EVENTS

gallery opening – Fri. May 2, 2025

The FHK Gallery will reopen on Friday May 2nd with a new exhibit.

In thousands of images, self-taught photographer Edward Budney (1920-1980) captured midcentury Kingston. Employed by Hercules Powder Company and later IBM, Budney lived at 125 Cedar Street, sharing the home with his father Edward Sr., mother Matilda and younger brother Donald. The images in this exhibit were selected from Budney’s personal archive, ten boxes of film negatives purchased at a local yard sale and donated to the Friends of Historic Kingston in 2018. Documenting major postwar developments beside everyday domestic scenes, Budney’s work reflects this singularly dedicated Midtown photographer’s passion for both his community and chosen medium.

This exhibit will be open to the public, free of charge, on Fridays and Saturdays (May – Oct) from 10am until 3pm. We hope to see you there!HK

PAST EVENTS

Scarecrow Festival - October 26, 2024

Thanks to everyone who made this year’s Scarecrow Festival at Frog Alley Park so successful! We loved the KCSD students’ artwork, the animals from Forsyth Nature Center (thank you Mark DeDea!), and all of the creative scarecrows.

We would also like to recognize local musician Johnny “Stickerboy” Owens, who performed a beautiful set of autumnal cover songs in front of the Louw-Bogardus Ruin. As always, thanks to City of Kingston, the Junior League, and the Wiltwyck Fire Station for partnering with FHK to present this great event.
